Pakistani Designers Shine at Milan Fashion Week
Famous Pakistani designers Maheen Khan, Rizwan Beyg and Deepak Perwani showcased their stylish collections at this year’s Milan Fashion Week. The gifted threesome, along with highly praised fashion photographer Tapu Javeri, narrated to Daily Times their enriching knowledge during their stay at Italy’s fashion hub. “It was a fabulous experience. It exceeded our prospect,” they said. However, Rizwan Beyg felt that the city of Milan was a bit of a disappointment – the only exception being the gorgeous cathedral at the Duomo that “sits in the midst of a square like
a large wedding cake covered with lashings of white frosting”. Reminisce about their excursions, they revealed that Tapu spent all his time shopping at H&M whereas ever-graceful Maheen went to the grand Rinascente mall and bought luxurious designer bags. Foodies Deepak and Rizwan ate their way through pizza, pasta and endless tubs of Gelato. Rizwan grumble non-stop about the lack of nice stores to shop in and moaned about the weather. They travelled in the subway and made plans to go to La Scala but ended up doing fittings locked in the basement of the Camera Moda wading through 60 pieces of clothing with “beautiful, leggy models” – the guys seemed to have no complaints on that front! Their collections scared fashion critics to the extent that they have been invite again in 2010. Well done, guys!
